Alberta Praire

Alberta Praire
Original watercolor
12” x 16”
There are landscapes that feel beautiful… and then there are landscapes that make you breathe differently.
This watercolor was inspired by the open fields and endless skies we experienced while traveling through Alberta, Canada on our way to Jasper National Park. I was struck by the vastness of it all — the way the land seemed to stretch endlessly beneath the enormous sky, and how even the smallest details, like the yellow wildflowers along the edge of the field, felt quietly important.
What stayed with me most was the feeling of space.
Not emptiness, but openness. Room to exhale. Room to think clearly again.
The distant grain structures sit quietly against the horizon while the clouds gather and drift above the fields, creating a sense of stillness and movement at the same time. It’s a landscape that doesn’t demand attention loudly, but instead invites you to pause long enough to really take it in.
This 12" x 16" watercolor is a reflection of that moment — the calm, the scale, and the quiet relief of standing beneath a sky that feels bigger than your thoughts.
Mounted on a birch wooden panel.
Waxed for protection, no need for glass or matting.
